My hair routine is fairly simple. I normally wear two-strand twists. My hair is like a Slinky, which causes massive shrinkage and terrible tangles.
My Pre-Wash Routine
Pre-poo loose twists
Before I wash my hair, I detangle each twist to remove any shed hair and knots. I spritz my hair with a water and olive oil mixture, and I use a conditioner. I mostly finger-detangle my hair. Finger detangling is when you use your fingers to detangle your hair instead of a comb. I have found that combs tend to break my hair, so I rarely use them. If I do use a comb, I still finger-detangle first. After I detangle each twist, I re-twist it loosely to get ready for a wash. The pre-wash helps to loosen any dirt or build up in my hair.
My Wash Routine
I wash my hair in four sections. I only add shampoo to my roots and I massage my scalp with my fingertips. I rinse out the shampoo, then I add more conditioner. I do this section by section. After I complete the last section, I will start with the first section and rinse out the conditioner.
My Twisting Routine
Right after I wash my hair, I re-twist it. I coat each twist with a leave-in concoction that I put together. Please check out my Hair Products page for more information. After I finish, I mist it with a water and olive oil mixture, then let it air dry.
